A broken or worn drive belt is generally the cause of a drum that is failing to turn when the motor is functional. Attempting to turn the drum by hand will establish whether the belt is in good condition - if the drum is difficult to turn then the belt is working, but if the drum turns with little resistance the belt needs to be replaced. A belt in working condition should be taut around the drum, so bear this mind when fitting a new one.
If an issue with temperature regulation is affecting the MDS8412RX dryer's performance, the thermostat is likely to be faulty - replacing this component should resolve the problem.
